Fall 2025 Trend Report

September 16, 2025

Fashion’s Favourite Time of the Year

September. The back to school energy is in the air. Our fave magazines issue their largest issues of the year for fall and the pull to add some new bits to layer is STRONG. Not sure where to start or what to add to your fall looks? Let’s break it down. This is not a comprehensive list but it’s MY list of styles, trends and colours I’m itching to try for fall.

Preppy

Speaking of back to school there’s a real collegiate vibe to fashion this fall. From button ups and rugby shirts, ties to tartans, there’s a very preppy renaissance happening. For me that means maybe leaning into some collared shirts in green stripes or re-living my imagined version of a school uniform with a shirt, preppy cardigan, trousers and loafers. What’s old is new again? If you’re looking for where to shop, J.Crew, Club Monaco and Banana Republic always do cool collegiate.

Lingerie as Day Wear

Happening simultaneously but on the opposite end of the spectrum from buttoned up collegiate is lacey daywear. We’re seeing camisoles and slip dresses worn with jeans or layered over jeans (yes, we’re back there) and the slinky daywear is bringing a soft femininity to fall fashion. We’re also seeing echos of this in boho silhouettes which are still going strong.  Mango and Anthropologie have been really doing this well for fall.

Texture Takeover

I love the layering opportunities of fall weather and the playful pairing of textures is one of my favourite things. This fall again we’re seeing a lot of leather (suede, buttery soft and fringes, too!), furs, soft knit textures and even sequins! Even if you’re not comfortable mixing colours, an outfit built from mixed textures will always look luxe and feel elevating. I always love Sezane‘s take on texture.

And speaking of colour…

Earth Tones Rule

Browns, olive green tones, earthy reds and luxe creams. Lean into those muted tones and let the colours of the season guide you. Give your monochrome black, whites and greys a break. Add some colour with these easy on the eyes palette and try something you maybe wouldn’t normally! I usually look to COS for simple, cleverly coloured pieces with staying power.

No matter what the trends of the season are, don’t forget that whatever you choose to wear should be true to you and make you feel good – never like it’s a costume. Try one new thing (colour, texture, style) and go from there. Baby steps to the new you!
